Exploring L'Orangerie: A Journey Through Claude Monet's Waterlilies in Paris

Hello! I'm Naïma, a professional Fine Artist from the south of France. I have a deep passion for art history, particularly the Impressionist movement. Today I'm taking you with me to my favorite museum in Paris.

Whenever I travel to Paris, I make sure to visit one of my favorite museums: Claude Monet Waterlilies collection at l'Orangerie. A museum isn't just a place you visit once; it's worth exploring multiple times!

Just as the old masters did, studying ancient art is crucial in an artist's life; it helps you grasp colors, values, and shapes, providing endless inspiration. It is also a moment of peace and meditation. Art is for me a source of well-being and it is essential.

This museum owns the most beautiful paintings of Claude Monet: The Nympheas serie.

Offered to the French State by the painter Claude Monet on the day that followed the Armistice of November 11, 1918 as a symbol for peace, the Water Lilies are installed according to plan at the Orangerie Museum in 1927, a few months after his death. This unique set, a true « Sixtine Chapel of Impressionism » in the words of André Masson in 1952, testifies to Monet’s later work. The set is one of the largest monumental achievements of early twentieth-century painting.

L'Orangerie is an art gallery of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings located in the west corner of the Tuileries Garden next to the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

Strolling through the Tuileries Garden on a summer day is consistently enjoyable. You'll encounter art such as statues and sculptures along the way, and the scenery is truly inspiring for an artist's perspective. If you're like me and always carry your watercolor travel set, I suggest taking a moment to paint in the open air!

Diving into Claude Monet's Waterlilies...

Now, let's enter the museum, finally.

To me, visiting this museum is quite distinct from other art museums. Claude Monet's technique in painting these vast landscapes offers a genuine immersion into a dreamy, ethereal world.

You immediately experience tranquility and a sense of lâcher prise. All thoughts of your daily life fade away. To me, taking the time to be there is truly a gift you give to yourself.

The "Matin" landscape is undoubtedly my favorite. The morning light on the stunning purple and blue shades of the water garden is truly breathtaking.

The galleries are designed in a circular shape, giving you the sensation of being enveloped in a dream.

I hope you enjoyed looking at these pictures I took and that it inspires you to spend more time in museums.

If you can't visit Paris like I do, look for Claude Monet's paintings in a city near you. You might find a museum showcasing some of his collection.

To conclude this adventure, I want to show you my newest dreamlike artwork. Feeling frustrated with an old painting, I chose to paint over it, and here is the outcome.

I named it "The Possible Dream" because that's how my journey began. I decided to have faith in myself and my art, and to share it with the world.

I hope you have a lovely and tranquil day.

Naïma
